On Friday, February 23, the 8th grade boys basketball team faced Roland-Story. The Cubs won all three games, 39-30, 33-22, and 16-10.
“The season flew by. A major reason why it seemed so quick was that the group was very coachable all year and came to practice looking to get better,” said Coach Brook Thompson.
The A team finished the season undefeated. There were many players that stepped up and contributed with their leadership and tenacious defense.
The leading scorers against Roland-Story were Spencer Grant with 15 points, Gavin Melohn with eight points, Colin Memmer and Logan Bullock with four each, and Christian Hawbaker with three,.
The B team played with lots of energy throughout the entire season and finished the season with an impressive 10-2 record.
The leading scorers against Roland-Story were Will Kerns with nine points, Daniel Borer with eight, Brandon Sampson with seven, and Tate Mair with five .
The C team worked well together and fought hard throughout the entire game. The leading scorers were Caelan Pecha-Sullivan with four points, Adam Pratt with three, and Tom Ball with two.
The coaches challenge the boys to continue with their excellent work ethic during offseason summer workouts to extend their success into their high school careers.
