On Friday, February 2, the Nevada JV boys basketball team lost to the Gilbert Tigers, 42-56.
“This was our second meeting with a very solid Gilbert team this season. In the first contest Gilbert defeated the Cubs 64-34. In the second meeting, we played better and showed a lot of improvement from the first time we met,” said Coach Greg Baethke. On the defensive end the Cubs were doing a good job of playing team defense.
On the offensive side, the Cubs did a good job only being down four going into the second quarter. Leading the Cubs in scoring were Kody Kruschwitz with eight, Henry Nelson with seven and Jacob Sanders and Chase Lycke with six each.
“In the second we had a lot of costly turnovers which led to easy points for Gilbert. Gilbert stepped up their defense in the second half, and we had trouble putting points on the board. That was the big difference of the game,” said Coach Baethke.
