The Nevada Varsity Boys Basketball took on the Colo NESCO Royals, Saturday, January 6th. The Cubs pulled away towards the end of the game, winning 52-41. This win moved the Cubs’ record to 5-6 for the year, after a sluggish 3-6 start.
The leading scorers for the Cubs were Trent Stahl with 14, and Luke Merfeld with 13. This was a very close game, as the Cubs were only ahead by one at the end of the 3rd quarter. But they prevailed in the 4th quarter, outscoring the Royals 17-7, en route to an 11 point win.
Nevada only shot 2-13 from deep, and 19-47 overall. This just shows that if they could’ve hit just a couple more shots, it could’ve been a much higher scoring performance by them. This was a great momentum and confidence game for them, as their next game is against the undefeated South Hamilton Hawks on Friday, January 12th. Will the Cubs spoil the Hawks’ undefeated season?
