On Saturday, December 16, the girls varsity basketball team beat Ballard, 34-31. Lexy Koudelka played well, scoring 16 points, and Hattie Rhodes and Riley Mailey both hit big 3 points shots to get the team going offensively.
A key part of the win was the Cubs’ defense in the 3rd quarter. The Cubs shut the Bombers out that quarter, which allowed them to build a lead going into the 4th quarter.
The Cubs were coming off of a big win Friday night, so they were a little sluggish to start the game. Once they picked their intensity up, though, they started playing better. It was a good win to cap a busy week of basketball.
The Cubs are now 7-1 overall and 5-0 in Heart of Iowa Conference play.
