On Tuesday, November 21, the girls JV played Boone and won 38-30 at home. The team played well defensively in the second half to take a lead and held Boone to 14 points. The team had not spent much time applying full court pressure but did against Boone and the girls worked hard in creating turnovers. Coach Hersom thought the transition part of the game could be the strength of the team.
Addison Vorm, a freshman, stood out for the JV team. She scored 10 points and is developing as a point guard. She attacks defenses and creates opportunities for others. Sophomore Amelea Jones (10pts) also played well, grabbing several rebounds and finishing around the basket. Coach Hersom said this team needs to strive for perfection on those baskets underneath the hoop.
Ball handling, reducing turnovers and executing on offense are still areas the team is constantly focusing on. It’s early in the season, so there is always room for growth and improvement.
